DragonBall Z: Legacy of Goku

One of the best Game Boy Advance (GBA) games I?ve played is Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku (LoG). Made by our friends at Infogrames, the people who helped bring us loads of good titles like the Unreal and Roller Coaster Tycoon series, and many games for younger children such as Blue?s Clues and Backyard Sports. Infogrames is host to a wide range of gamers from pre-school to adults and is a very accomplished and well known game company.

LoG is a bird?s eye view fighting game. The controls are pretty good for a GBA game, and the graphics are also great. For a handheld game, LoG makes you want to just keep playing to get a higher level character and grab new attacks.

DragonBall Z: Legacy of GokuThe storylines plot is simple, that is if you watch DBZ on TV. LoG follows the plot from the beginning of the DBZ series up through the journey to Namek and the attack on Frieza. You get to learn all of Goku?s attacks from a simple Ki blast all the way up to Kameha-meha wave.

DragonBall Z: Legacy of GokuLoG is a pretty clean game, no blood, gore, or foul language, and has a basic ?save the universe? type plot. The idea of fighting may not be quite so good, but in the given situation it has been deemed warranted for a good cause. Even in the Bible we see army?s fighting for what is right and good in the eyes of the Lord.

The only failure found when looked at it from Christian perspective is found when your character dies in part of the story. In the ?afterlife? you go on a quest to meet a master of martial arts where you train until you are wished back to life by your friends back on earth. This seems to promote the religious belief of reincarnation and should be taken into careful consideration before allowing your child to play. I would advise talking with your child prior to them playing and showing them what the Bible has to say about this issue. (I recommend the following verses: Leviticus 19:26, Deuteronomy 18:10-13, and Galatians 19-20)

LoG is a fairly clean game and is suitable for most gamers. The controls are easy to learn, graphics are decent, and the plot is well developed. LoG is an excellent single player portable game and a recommended buy for most anyone with a GBA.
